This gorgeous sunset engagement session in the aspen groves of American Fork Canyon was seriously what dreams are made of! When Abigail and Ethan reached out to me about shooting their wedding, adventure session, and engagements I was STOKED! I love getting to work with my couples throughout the entire wedding and planning process. Engagement sessions allow me the chance to really get to know my couples, and allows them the chance to feel comfortable in front of the camera so that by the time the wedding rolls around we’re basically best friends. When discussing locations Abigail and Ethan talked about how once they’re married they’ll be moving to Louisiana so they really wanted to highlight some of the awesomeness that is Utah before they go. Of course one of the first things that came to mind was an aspen grove! So we met at Chik-fil-A (because you have to be well fed before starting a session haha), and drove up American Fork Canyon.
We couldn’t have timed it any better as we shot in the aspens right as the sun shone through the trees – it was straight up MAGIC I’m telling you. We laughed and quoted The Office more times than is publicly acceptable and talked about our mutual love for the Oregon Coast (where Ethan is originally from). Ethan and Abigail are two people who truly just enjoy each others’ company. There was no pressure, no worry, no stress, just love. One of my favorite things is when my couples trust my creative vision but also share ideas or concepts that they would like to try. When Ethan suggested they lay in the grass (one of my favorite shots) I was more than ready to put a new twist on it and capture the two of them as they fell together into the tall grass, giggling the whole way down.My goal for all my engagement sessions is for it to feel like my couples are on a date and I’m just third-wheelin’ to document all the love.
